  • Richard Allan Murray: The local fire department chief and city council member reported seeing the creature while driving along a creek bed. He described it as a massive upright creature illuminated by his vehicle’s headlights. 

Community Response 

The sightings led to a 20-person posse being formed to hunt the creature, but nothing was ever found. The town experienced a period of “monster fever,” with numerous reports and heightened interest in the creature. 

Cultural Impact
