Encounter Description:

Name of nearest TOWN: St Albans, Maine Name of nearest ROAD: Weather CONDITIONS: 2ft snow about 28 degrees sunny The ENCOUNTER:

It was black powder season it had just snowed that night.we got about 2 ft of fluffy powdered snow. I left my truck at 630 am walking an stopping an listening,it took me about half an hr to get to a stump I could sit on with a tree to my back an side . There was a maple that had fallen an I had cut out a nice window to shoot my bow threw 10 yds in front of me beyond that there was a scape I had hung a drip bag from 35 yds from my stump at least 9 ft in the air.
I was there about 10 mins an I grunted gave a rattle an waited .I looked to my left then right scanning nothing.
I grunted again looked right then back at the scrape,then I see this black mass slowly appear standing slowly standing shaking off the snow from its body,I tried to swallow butt couldn’t this thing was huge it’s left hand grabbed a tree about the size of a paint can it’s hand wrapped around it no problem standing like an old man waking up in the morning.standing stright up i could see my scent bag just over his right shoulder about 4 ft in front of him his shoulder huge 4 maybe 5 ft wide. I could see his back swell as he took a huge breath an a big dog appear as he let it out it circled his head showing no wind, I thought my God what an I seeing I’m an 82nd airborne paratrooper an don’t get shaken to easily but my right leg was doin a jig.i looked to my right at my escape route to make sure I could get up with out tripping,I looked back he was gone no noise no smell gone like that.
I got out of there got back to my truck trying to catch my breath checking to see if he was behind me nothing.
I never went back but I’ve thought why was he right there did he follow the scent bottle waiting for a deer as well
